Change Your Life from Ordinary to Great and Have Fun!!

It was a dark and stormy night and we were traveling down a back-road hill heading for home. Suddenly the rock on the left was right in front of us and my husband couldn’t avoid it. Bang! The rock was now behind us.

The car limped down the road to a parking lot nearby where we waited for help. A few hours later, we got the car towed and someone came and picked us up.

Not too much damage, thank goodness. We were back on the road in no time.

I don’t know why, but I wanted to see the rock that got us. The next time I went up that road, I stopped. When I saw it, I had to have it, and I lugged that rock into my car. God, it was heavy!

I brought it home and had an idea. Let’s give it a new face. I painted it yellow and gave it a smiley face. It made me happy to see. I joked that I am such a good life coach that I even can change a rock. LOL

Eventually, my rock made its way to our garden where it continues to smile.

A Metaphor for Life

This story is a good metaphor for your life. Whenever you hit a bump in the road, you have a choice on how to respond. You can:

• Freak out.
• Find who you think caused it to happen to you and give them a piece of your mind.
• Stop, regroup, and plan where you want to go.
• See it as a learning experience.
• Welcome it as an opportunity to level up your life skills.

How Do You Choose?

First, take a deep breath and move through your initial reaction, and ask if it feels negative or you begin to fight with yourself. You can even use your initial reaction to learn a little more about yourself and some decidew if past baggage that has come up. Take some time to ask yourself what it is you are learning.

Then, ask yourself what it will take to turn this bump around into something useful? Know that your mind is always ready to help you find the answers. You must ask with determination though.

Last of all, stay focused on what you want. What you really, really want. Move out of reacting and into controlling your journey.
