Balance
When I am too busy or too lethargic or fatigued chances are I am in stress. It is really our nature to gravitate toward living in balance. Also, it is our nature to gravitate toward distraction, addiction, or obsessive behavior to avoid feeling complicated feelings. We believe on some level we cannot handle it.
How would I describe balance? For me, living a balanced life has the following components:
- Living in the present – not worrying excessively about the future or feeling guilty about the past.
- Having a clear, comfortable view of one’s spirituality, whatever that is. (By the way, I’ve heard religious and spiritual described this way: Religion is for people who are afraid they might go to hell; spirituality is for those of us who have already been through it).
- Work some, play some and continue to learn some.
- (On money) – Save some, spend some, and share some.
- Last, yet most certainly the one of most significant importance: Respectfully communicate what you need to show who can give it to you.
