The “List” That Can Bring You Peace of Mind
What Do You Do When All Heck Breaks Loose?
The toilet handle breaks off, all your email accounts disappear, you can’t sleep, you are so stressed you think you are either going to have a stroke or heart attack, a family member gets upset with you, a friend had an accident, you are behind in your business projects, your financial resources are low, and even more – all at once.
- Call a friend and vent?
- Cry a lot?
- Sleep all the time?
- Overindulge in food, wine, weed?
- Clean your house obsessively?
- Feel all of your mind and body is twirling around out of control?
What To Do to Move Out of “All Heck Breaking Loose”
One easy fix to move out of these stressful times in your life is to make a list. Yes, make a list of everything you have to do, everything you need to change, and everyone that is troubling you. Also, list thoughts and feelings running through your mind a lot.
How Does a List Help?
First of all the list helps you mind stop trying to remember everything. Everything is on your list so you won’t forget. Second, the list helps you make decisions if you need help with something or you need to change how you are managing your time. These two things can change you from stress to movement in themselves.
The Next Step
The next step is to look the list over and pick two or three items you would like to do this present day. Pick the ones that you know will cause you to feel relief and a sense of success. Also, if a particular project will take some time, break it up into 10 or 15 increments. You will still feel a sense of movement.
A Caution
The caution here is about how you view your list. Some people get lost in the need to do everything on the list. Instead, focus on what would bring a measure of peace and calm to our sense of being overwhelmed.
